Student Counsellors at Bond University offer a confidential on-campus counselling service to help students with a range of issues from study pressures to personal problems. As part of the Student Wellbeing & Success team, this role is responsible for providing a professional and confidential counselling service to students and staff (on occasion) of the University

Reporting to the Head of Service, Student Counselling, Health and Wellbeing the successful applicant will engage with the diverse demographics of our student cohort, playing a key role in shaping targeted mental health and wellbeing resources and awareness campaigns. Your expertise will be instrumental in conducting mental health assessments and delivering counselling support and interventions to individuals and groups. About the person

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A qualification in Psychology with AHPRA registration as a Psychologist or qualification in Social Work with Mental Health Accreditation and eligibility to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience including exposure to working with people experiencing complex mental health difficulties and supporting victims/survivors of gender violence and sexual harm.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse cohorts in an educational or comparable environment and offering targeted support across a wide range of problems pertinent to students, e.g., personal, social, cultural, academic, career and financial.
  • Proven experience in responding to critical incidents and traumatic events including provision of high-level advice in relation to assessment of risk related to mental health and at-risk behaviour.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively monitor and prioritise workload.
  • High level interpersonal and communication capability with capacity to engage effectively with senior leaders, staff and students.
  • Availability to work part‑time, either 2.5 days per week or 5 days per fortnight (Monday to Wednesday) – desirable. 

Salary details

The salary for this 0.5FTE position commences at $56,405.50 per annum (Full-time Equivalent is $112,811 per annum) plus 12% superannuation per annum.

Please note: The fixed term of this employment contract will be for up to two years, with twelve months' probation. The prospect of conversion to a continuing employment contract will be discussed at the end of the contract term.
