Student Experience Associate

The Student Financial Services Specialist is integral in providing operational support for the Office of Student Financial Services and resolving questions and concerns for students and parents regarding tuition accounts and financial aid. The Student Financial Services Specialist must provide exceptional customer service and collaborate with other student service departments to ensure seamless and consistent processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of the Office of Student Financial Services functions, including helping students and families resolve basic questions regarding student accounts and financial aid in person, over the phone and through email.
  • Receive and review incoming paperwork for completeness. Documents may include refund requests, verifications, and satisfactory academic progress appeals.
  • Assist students and parents with navigating Nelnet - payment plans, transaction details, authorized parties, Workday, and Student Aid.gov - FAFSA, MPN, Entrance Counseling, and PLUS applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Assist the Director of Student Financial Services with maintaining and updating the procedure manual, obtaining and organizing audit data, coordinating student communications, including but not limited to office updates, missing documentation, and maintaining and updating student forms. Assume additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
  • Provide exceptional customer service in all job functions/interactions

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 3-12 months in Student Services or Customer Service

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) basic applications
  • Ability to learn technological applications
  • General office skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to relate effectively with students, staff members, and office visitors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly quality-focused service environment with excellent organizational skills and a professional manner
  • Ability to take directions and use independent judgment
  • Ability to work in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands
  • Ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems
