Student Life Director, Division of Student Affairs
The Student Life Director plays a central role in shaping the co-curricular experience at Hunter College by fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and connected campus community within a predominantly commuter environment. This position is responsible for cultivating a culture of belonging where all students feel seen, supported, and empowered to engage fully in college life. Through intentional programming, student leadership development, and cross-campus collaboration, the Director facilitates meaningful relationship building among students, opportunities for connection, dialogue, and shared learning that extend beyond the classroom and strengthen students? sense of identity, purpose, and community at Hunter.
- Oversees the Office of Student Activities, its personnel and programming budget; and manages programs to provide Hunter College students with a full complement of leadership development and service-learning opportunities
- Oversees Hunter College's Affinity Spaces including personnel and programming budget
- Develops initiatives to qualify students for pipeline programs through professional partnerships with outside agencies; and develop outreach opportunities for agencies to connect directly with Hunter students to promote leadership development
- Creates initiatives with student organizations, administrative and academic departments to provide a rich array of student programming and events
- Oversees the execution of administrative operations for the Undergraduate and Graduate Student Governments to ensure accountability and compliance to their constitutional obligations
- Implements and facilitates student elections, chairs the committee that ensures all campaign activities meet rules and regulations
- Reviews all aspects of student clubs and organizations and oversees the resolutions of student issues
- Manages implementation of all on and off campus events for student clubs and organizations; and student engagement events promoting student academic excellence and leadership development
- Conducts frequent assessment of program effectiveness through statistical summaries of participant data and program attendance
- In collaboration with committees. manages college wide events such as Commencement, Convocation and Orientation
- Identifies students for scholarship opportunities when appropriate
- Chairs the College Association Committee
- Oversees evening and weekend events as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree and eight years? related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.
- Experience with supervision of professional staff and budgetary management.
- Expertise in the professional application of student development and learning outcome theories.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of programs and events (small, large, major) from initial stages to implementation and outcome assessment

Directs planning, program development, and administration to support access, retention, multicultural, and other student affairs objectives.
- Develops plans for, and leads a student development services unit which comprises a variety of services and programs
- Collaborates with academic affairs professionals and other in supporting retention and building a comprehensive learning environment that fosters the intellectual, psychological, social, leadership and recreational development of a diverse student population
- Assists senior management in providing leadership, developing policy, conducting strategic planning, and representing student affairs in various professional activities
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the portfolio of student services in supporting divisional and College-wide goals; oversees data collection, tracking, and reporting systems
- Manages fiscal and human resources; may oversee grant management activities for selected programs
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary commensurate with education and experience $118,070 - $136,546.
