Offer Description
The AITAX project aims to address the complexity and dynamics of modern tax regulations by developing a cutting-edge AI solution for automating the analysis and processing of tax data. Core goals include creating a semantic repository for storing and indexing tax documents, designing machine learning algorithms to represent data in embedding spaces, and building tools for semantic search, interpretation summarisation, and interactive chatbot support for defining factual states and generating tax ruling applications. The project incorporates advanced NLP models, in-context learning techniques, and dynamic prompting with conversational memory mechanisms.
Funded by the European Funds for a Modern Economy (FENG) 2021–2027 Priority 2, under the First Team competition.

Skills/Qualifications
The student-scholarship holder will perform research tasks outlined in the "AITAX (AI Tax Advisor) - An Innovative AI System for Tax Matters Support" project, funded by the Foundation for Polish Science under the FIRST TEAM FENG program, supervised by the Principal Investigator, Dr. habil. Tomasz Kajdanowicz. The scholarship holder's responsibilities will include:
- Full-stack development using web technologies.
- Implementation of user interface (frontend) and server-side logic (backend).
- Integration of LLM APIs and other services (e.g., databases, cloud systems).
- Designing and developing scalable and efficient systems.
- Collaborating on the development and testing of AI algorithms supporting semantic search.
- Assisting with functional tests and evaluating system prototypes.
Specific Requirements
- Status as a student in a bachelor’s or master’s program (preferred fields: artificial intelligence, computer science, data engineering, mathematics).
- Proficiency in English sufficient for using technical literature.
- Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary research team and ability to collaborate on planned research tasks.
- Knowledge of current artificial intelligence technologies (e.g., NLP, machine learning).
- Proficiency in programming with Python, experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB), familiarity with frontend technologies (e.g., React.js, Vue.js, or Angular), and backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Flask/FastAPI).
- Desirable: Experience with microservices and containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), integration with Hugging Face, familiarity with machine learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, Scikit-learn), and proficiency with tools supporting efficient software development (e.g., Co-pilot, Cursor
