About the Role

Working as part of a specialist support team, the Student Success Coach (Higher Education) reports to the Team Leader, Student Success and delivers evidence-based, data-informed support to help Swinburne Higher Education students adapt, progress and succeed. The role provides personalised advice, guidance and self-management strategies to both commencing and continuing students, with a focus on improving academic success, retention, and addressing barriers to progression.

The position leads and supports a range of student-facing programs and services, using digital tools, learning analytics and predictive indicators to identify cohorts for targeted intervention. This includes delivering proactive support to students identified as at risk of not meeting academic requirements, while fostering student agency, resilience and persistence.

The Student Success Coach works collaboratively with academic staff, Schools and key support services to deliver coordinated support, and contributes to events and initiatives that enhance student transition and belonging. The role also involves accurate administration of student interactions, contributing to communication campaigns and continuous improvement, with services delivered in-person, online and through self-directed resources.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Experience in the development, implementation, and delivery of high-quality student engagement/experience programs with demonstrated outcomes
  • A proven record of managing customer enquiries and a demonstrated commitment to customer service including follow-up and closure activities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels with compassion and respect.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and promote an inclusive, healthy, and safe learning/coaching environment and provide support and advice to a diverse range of students

Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor's degree with at least five years of subsequent experience; or considerable experience and management expertise in tertiary education; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training
