Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Student Success Coach to join Learning and Teaching Unit, Education Portfolio, Academic Division.

The primary purpose of the Student Success Coach is to work collaboratively with students and staff to provide holistic and timely support, services and programs that meet the transition, progression, and academic needs of students. The position works in close partnership with the Student Partner Contact Centre team and Career, STEM and Language and Learning Educators, and contributes to the support of broader Student Success and Teaching Advancement objectives. This position reports to the Senior Student Success Educator for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

The Student Success and Teaching Advancement (SSTA) teams work in partnership with faculties and divisions to deliver a connected and impactful student experience. This is achieved through the provision of university wide learning, careers and retention support services and strategies, and building an engaged community of innovative academic practice and learner focused educational delivery using scholarly and data informed approaches.

SSTA is a large section within LTU employing more than 120 academic, professional and sessional staff, and student partners.

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of a degree in a field related to student engagement and success, education, social work, counselling or psychology with subsequent relevant experience.
  2. Experience in a role or practice in one or more areas such as: student advising, support service delivery, coaching, and/or mentoring.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the issues which affect adult learners, and an ability to coach all students to develop skills, attitudes and techniques to improve their learning outcomes.
  4. Demonstrated ability to foster mutually beneficial, inclusive, and innovative partnerships to support student success.
  5. Demonstrated ability to realise value to students and stakeholders through insights and analysis of student learning needs.
  6. Demonstrated ability to deliver multi-modal programs, services and resources which support student success and retention.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
