Rowan-Cabarrus Community College's Visual Art Program, which resides in the Department of General Education & Transfer, is establishing a specialized pool of qualified studio art candidates to teach part-time foundational and specialized studio courses across our campuses (including Salisbury and Concord). Areas of instructional need may include, but are not limited to:
- Drawing and Design Foundations
- Printmaking
- Ceramics
- Painting
- Two-Dimensional and Three-Dimensional Design
- Sculpture
- Digital Art
Duties and Responsibilities
- Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.
- Actively engage students and provide prompt, objective, respectful, and effective feedback.
- Communicate and follow the course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.
- Work collaboratively with the College's support services to identify and address the student's academic support needs.
- Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the College's learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.
- Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.
- When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and that equipment is in safe operating order.
- Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty, and staff.
Required Education/Experience
- Master's degree in Fine Arts (M.F.A.) or a Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Studio Art, Art History, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated active engagement in a professional studio art or exhibition practice.
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:
- College-level teaching experience (community college or four-year institution).
- Experience utilizing Learning Management Systems (such as Canvas) for course enhancement, hybrid, or online art instruction.
- Experience managing and maintaining safe studio environments as applicable (kilns, printmaking presses, chemical safety, and equipment maintenance).
