Position Summary

Working with campus grounds staff on a variety of outdoor activities; including weeding, watering, mulching, push mow/string trim, raking and planting trees and shrubs.

These are temporary positions from May 18 through August 14.

Working 4 days per week at a minimum of 28 hours. Opportunity for additional hours as well.

Hours are 7:00am-2:30pm Monday through Thursday with Friday/Saturday/Sunday pass days, OR,

Tuesday through Friday with Saturday/Sunday/Monday pass days.

SELECTED CANDIDATES MAY NOT HOLD ANOTHER POSITION ON CAMPUS DURING THE DURATION OF THIS ASSIGNMENT. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO APPLICATIONS RECEIVED BY WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 2026.

Major Responsibilities

Grounds activities will include assisting staff with the following:

  • Weeding, watering, and mulching
  • Push mow/string trim, sweeping, raking, shoveling debris
  • Planting of trees and shrubs
  • Various tasks as needed

Functional and Supervisory Relationships

Reports to Larry Cohenno

Required Qualifications

Positions are being offered to SUNY and Community College Students.

Minimally, you must be enrolled on at least a half time basis over the summer sessions, and/or be enrolled to commence studies for the Fall 2026 semester (proof of matriculation will be required). Students graduating in May 2026 are NOT eligible.

Must have the ability to perform moderate physical labor (lifting up to 50 lbs.)
