Purpose:
The Supervisor of Maintenance Operations, is a working Supervisor position, under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, Physical Plant, and via the Facilities Services Group, provides students, staff, faculty and visitors with an attractive, safe and functional physical environment in which to study and work, coordinating and administering maintenance of College facilities to assure this environment.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The Supervisor of Maintenance Operations supervises up to seven (7) M&O positions. Supervision of all employees includes dissemination of daily work instructions, implementation of preventative maintenance programs and oversight of maintenance contracts beyond the scope of in-house employees.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Engineering or similar area.
- Five (5) years public facilities maintenance experience – including demonstrated knowledge of common maintenance practices and proficiency with the tools of the various building trades, managing cost center budgets and the ability to work on many projects simultaneously.
- Three (3) years of experience in facilities maintenance management – preferably at an advanced level involving project planning, troubleshooting and budgeting. This experience can be concurrent to #2.
- Two (2) years minimum experience in a supervisory position. This experience can be concurrent to #2 and #3.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Experience as a maintenance supervisor in a diversified multiple-building, multiple-system facility similar to Mott Community College.
- Experience working effectively with MCCs administrative and management teams and external organizations.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Walking, talking, multi-tasking, carrying light loads (approx. 25 lbs. or less) and being exposed to heights of four stories or more. Office, shop and construction site environment; regularly exposed to mechanical, chemical and electrical hazards; occasionally subject to dirt, dust, noise, fumes and other hazardous temperature extremes, poor lighting, confined spaces, elevated heights, asbestos and other hazardous substances.
Work Schedule
Full-time. Must be willing to work a flexible shift if needed. Additional hours may be required to accommodate presentations, deadlines, meeting schedules, etc. Must be capable of working extended hours in case of emergency situations. Actively on call 24/7/52 with regard to any and all systems. Must be available at all times to respond to emergency situations.
