About This Opportunity

The School of Social Science is seeking a motivated and experienced Supervisor, Student and Academic Administration to lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality student and academic administrative services. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional to play a key role in supporting the School’s teaching and learning environment while contributing to its operational effectiveness and strategic priorities.

In this role, you will provide operational leadership across the School’s student and academic administration functions, supervising a team of professional staff and ensuring the efficient coordination of services that support students, academics, and teaching activities. You will oversee the implementation of University policies and procedures, provide expert administrative advice to academic and professional staff, and ensure compliance with University regulations and quality standards.

Through strong leadership and a commitment to service excellence, you will help enhance the student experience, support the School’s teaching and learning objectives, and contribute to continuous improvement across administrative operations.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage the Student and Academic Administration team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment while overseeing performance, workload allocation, and service delivery aligned with University values.
  • Provide expert advice on student and academic administration while coordinating the implementation of University and Faculty policies and supporting governance processes, including the School Teaching and Learning Committee.
  • Oversee key academic administration functions, including curriculum changes, Board of Studies submissions, academic integrity processes, and compliance with University policies and accreditation requirements.
  • Contribute to strategic and operational planning by analysing student data, improving administrative systems and processes, and building effective relationships with stakeholders across the University.

About You

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree with subsequent relevant experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity; or extensive experience and specialist expertise in an administrative field including demonstrated people management experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team, fostering a collaborative and positive team culture through effective performance management, workload planning, and staff development.
  • Strong working knowledge of, and university experience in, academic and student administration, along with a demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire an understanding of the School’s academic programs and courses.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks including the ability to meet deadlines under pressure, while maintaining a high level of accuracy with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy when engaging with both colleagues and students from diverse cultural backgrounds, and work collaboratively across teams and organisational units.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change and willing to explore new options and find creative solutions to problems.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering outstanding service to colleagues, current and prospective students at all levels of the organisation, consistently demonstrating high-level communication skills, empathy, and patience.
  • Experience using University systems, such as SI-net (student administration system), Jac Course Profiles, UniTask, CRM and Reportal (Business Objects) is highly desirable.

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which may include verification of the right to work in Australia and criminal history checks. This is a full-time, permanent position. Base salary will be in the range $104,616 - $113,920 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7). Based at our St Lucia campus.
