Sustainability Learning Spaces Program Manager, Office of Sustainability
Job Description Summary
The Sustainability Learning Spaces Manager works in close collaboration with campus partners and subject matter experts to provide opportunities for sustainability-focused learning on Wake Forest University's campus. The Manager maintains existing locations, such as the Campus Garden, and develops and coordinates maintenance of new spaces that offer opportunities for learning, engagement, and research for sustainability.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Use horticultural knowledge to oversee and maintain the Campus Garden: Employ ecologically responsible agriculture principles and practices to design and maintain annual and perennial plantings for sustainability education in the educational garden on campus. Work with Facilities, Real Estate, and Planning departments to maintain aesthetics surrounding the garden. Train and oversee student workers to perform work in the Campus Garden and enable them to lead volunteer sessions. Lead educational sessions and tours. Develop and implement a crop plan that supports sustainability learning outcomes. Coordinate a harvest delivery process with Campus Kitchen partners.
- In partnership with Facilities, Real Estate, and Planning, Reynolda Gardens, and other appropriate campus partners, develop and manage on-campus sites for learning, engagement, and research for sustainability.
- Use knowledge and experience with educational programs to create design standards, maintenance plans, and space reservation guidelines; facilitate sustainability-related class tours and engagements; create educational signage, maps, and other learning prompts and materials.
Other Functions:
- Collaborate with Office of Sustainability staff to support education and engagement programs and events.
- Collaborate with Office of Sustainability staff to contribute to the website, social media, and other regular communications.
- Collaborate with other WFU offices to create an inclusive and welcoming environment in all learning spaces.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in agroecology, horticulture, environmental education, environmental science or a related field
- A minimum of 2 years of professional agriculture or garden experience
- Experience in environmental education and/or delivering educational programs
- Demonstrated interest in and advocacy for sustainability-related issues
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, with attention to detail
