This position has been deemed critical by the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability Dean’s Office and is exempt from the hiring pause.
This position is based on Stanford’s main campus with consideration given to the option for a hybrid work schedule (partially onsite and offsite), subject to operational need. Interested candidates must include a resume and cover letter to be considered for this position.
This is a one-year fixed term position with the possibility of renewal dependent on programmatic need and budgetary availability.

Your Responsibilities will include:
- Design and execute research projects within key themes of CEPP’s electricity, insurance, and wildfire policy project portfolio, including the important interactions with affordability, decarbonization, and landscape and community resilience.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to research and legal fellows and other junior members of CEPP’s interdisciplinary research team.
- Engage in strategic planning, development of research proposals, and preparation of progress and final reports related to CEPP’s projects.
- Contribute to partner engagement and targeted communications to attain the goals of CEPP’s funded research projects.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this position, you will need:
- Ph.D or J.D. related to electricity, insurance, and wildfire policy.
- At least five years of relevant experience conducting applied research and policy engagement or policy development in the areas of electricity, insurance, and wildfire.
- Ability to manage project teams and oversee staff.
- Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop strategic partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability to work across organizations to accomplish measurable results towards programmatic goals.
- Proactive communicator with excellent written, visual, and oral communication skills for policy and general audiences.
- Flexible, open-minded, and collaborative mindset with ability to navigate an ambiguous environment.
