Taiwan Program Visiting Fellowship 2026-2027
The Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) is pleased to invite applications for the Taiwan Program Visiting Fellowship, to begin in Autumn quarter 2026.
Hosted by APARC's Taiwan Program, the visiting fellow position is awarded to one mid-career to senior-level expert with extensive experience studying contemporary Taiwan. The fellowship research focus is on issues related to how Taiwan can meet the challenges and opportunities of economic, social, technological, environmental, and institutional adaptation in the coming decades, using a variety of disciplines including the social sciences, public policy, and business.
Visiting fellows are required to be in residence for the duration of the appointment beginning fall 2026, take part in APARC activities throughout the academic year, and meet with collaborators and stakeholders as needed. They are also expected to support programmatic needs such as colloquiums. Fellows might also participate in research collaboration through the Stanford Next Asia Policy Lab (SNAPL).

Applications are open to candidates of all ranks with a PhD. There is a preference for mid-career professionals with a strong research and publication record. All fellows must be visiting from and affiliated with an outside institution or organization on the Asia-Pacific region and must be proficient in the English language.
