Based in Broome Campus, Several Roles available.

Academic Level (B/ C/ D) Part Time (0.1 minimum), Fixed term 30th June 2026 (with the expectation to extend)

•  New program to establish the Kimberley Centre for Remote Medical Training (KCRMT)

•  Negotiable Remuneration: Competitive salary + 14% super + remote allowance & 2 weeks additional leave (pro-rata).

ABOUT THE MEDICAL TRAINING CENTRE.

Kimberley Centre for Remote Medical Training (KCRMT) is a Commonwealth funded, end-to-end rural medical program based on the University’s Broome campus. KCRMT is one of the components that forms the University’s RHMT program which sits within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery and Health Sciences. The aim of KCRMT is to contribute to strengthening the medical workforce in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions. This is achieved through health research and the delivery of a fully accredited 4-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program that is supported by dedicated academic and professional staff based in the Kimberley. The program will transform the Broome campus, Kimberley, and Pilbara regions and develop the medical workforce in the region. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role reports to either the KCRMT Foundation Years Coordinator or Clinical Years Coordinator who provide administrative oversight of the KCRMT pathway. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Teach in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) curriculum in both pre-clinical and clinical years, covering clinical and non-clinical settings.
  • Support the development and delivery of Problem Based Learning (PBL), Clinical Skills, and other relevant tutorials.
  • Conduct tutorials, practical classes, labs, demonstrations, and clinical sessions.
  • Provide academic pastoral care to medical students, working with the Foundation Years Coordinator, Clinical Years Coordinator, and Head of Student Matters.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of student assessments, examinations, and markings.
  • Mentor medical students in rural and remote health research.

ABOUT YOU 

Level B (Lecturer)- A Level B Academic Employee is expected to contribute to teaching and engage in scholarly, research, or professional activities relevant to their discipline, typically requiring a doctoral or master’s qualification or equivalent. The role demands qualifications and experience recognised by the institution, including teaching, research, and other professional achievements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Possession of a medical or professional health degree registrable with AHPRA is highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • Experience in teaching within the Higher Education sector.
  • Experience in delivering and developing tutor skills in medical education or at a tertiary institution.
  • Understanding and ideally experience in applying Problem-Based Learning in a medical curriculum.
  • Commitment to teaching medical students and providing pastoral care in clinical and/or non-clinical settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management qualities, and a passion for Indigenous health and rural and remote health promotion.

Level C (Senior Lecturer) - A Level C Academic Employee is expected to significantly contribute to teaching, scholarship, research, and professional activities, typically requiring advanced qualifications or significant experience in their discipline. This role usually demands a doctoral qualification or equivalent, with a proven record of scholarly and professional achievements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Possess advanced qualifications and/or significant experience in the relevant discipline area, with a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing.
  • Have experience in teaching within the Higher Education sector and in developing the skills of tutors in medical education or a tertiary institution.
  • Demonstrate understanding and ideally experience in applying Problem-Based Learning in a medical curriculum.
  • Show a commitment to teaching medical students in both clinical and non-clinical settings, with experience in providing pastoral care.
  • Exhibit strong leadership and management qualities.
  • Display a passion for Indigenous health and rural and remote health promotion

Level D (Associate Professor) - A Level D Academic Employee builds on the skills of a Level C Academic with a requirement for academic excellence, demonstrated by outstanding contributions to teaching, research, or the profession. This role involves making significant contributions to all activities within the organisational unit or interdisciplinary area and playing a major role in their profession or discipline.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Possess advanced qualifications and/or significant experience in the relevant discipline, with a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation.
  • Have experience in teaching within the Higher Education sector and in developing tutor skills in medical education or a tertiary institution.
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding and ideally experience in applying Problem-Based Learning in a medical curriculum.
  • Show a strong commitment to teaching medical students in clinical and/or non-clinical settings and provide pastoral care.
  • Exhibit leadership and management qualities.
  • Display a passion for Indigenous health and rural and remote health promotion.
