Part-Time Lecturer in Sculpture (Non-Tenure Track)
The Department of Art at Stony Brook University is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time Lecturer for our Sculpture courses in the Fall 2024 semester. This non-tenure track role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a vibrant arts education environment and help shape the creative talents of our students.
Courses to Teach:
- ARS 256: Introduction to Sculpture (Mondays and Wednesdays)
- ARS 365/465: Intermediate/Advanced Sculpture (Mondays and Wednesdays)
Responsibilities:
- Engage students through innovative teaching methodologies in sculpture.
- Provide regular and constructive feedback to ensure student success.
- Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve course offerings.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
M.F.A. (foreign equivalent or higher) in Sculpture or closely related field. At least 2 years of teaching experience at the university level. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive atmosphere for students. Active participant in the sculpture art community with a proven art practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in fundamental and advanced 3D sculptural techniques. Proficiency in the use and safety of various sculpting tools and materials, including wood and metal work. Ability to deliver engaging lectures and hands-on demonstrations that convey complex concepts clearly.
