Accountability Objective

The Nursing Program Skills Lab Coordinator will maintain the nursing program laboratories and assist with teaching nursing skills to faculty and students. The instructor (faculty member) will provide instruction to pre-licensure nursing students in bedside nursing skills. He/She will work to create innovative problem-based learning experiences in a non-threatening learning environment. The nursing personnel will have faculty status and engage in clinical and scholarly development.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing (preferred) or demonstrated compliance with the following:
• BSN with graduate degree and within one year of graduation from an MSN program.
• Continuous enrollment in the graduate degree in nursing program
• A plan for timely completion of the graduate degree in nursing program.
• Two years of full-time professional nursing clinical experience.
• Two years (preferred) of full-time teaching experience in a nursing program.
• ·Holds a nursing license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Illinois. If licensed in another state, willingness to obtain Illinois license.
• Strong interpersonal skills, showing an ability to work effectively as a team member.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills.

Essential Job Function

• Lead Lab Instructor for the Nursing Skills lab. Coordinate lab curriculum with the NURS 192 instructors to ensure all first semester nursing students are prepared to care for patients at the bedside.
• Oversee the ordering and maintaining all simulation training equipment and supplies. 
• Schedule open lab time for student availability as needed. 
• Teach clinical as needed as adjunct faculty. 
• Perform other duties as assigned. 
• Lab is Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30 am-2:00 pm
