Maternal Child Health Nurse Clinical Lead

Full time, fixed term appointment until June 2025

Professional Employee Level 10 - $126,376– $140,256 pa

Provide leadership for the Australian Family Partnership Program at Charles Darwin University (CDU) 

About the Position

The Australian Family Partnership Program (AFPP) is a home visiting program that supports women pregnant with an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander child to support aspirations of becoming the best mum possible. AFPP clients are offered support and guidance during early pregnancy and on into their baby’s infancy and toddlerhood. The AFPP National Support Service (NSS) supports the delivery of the program by providing workforce development and education, data quality and reporting and ongoing support for implementing and operationalizing the AFPP program at partner sites.

As the Maternal Child Health Nurse Clinical Lead you will provide strategic leadership for the Australian Family Partnership Program, ensuring alignment with the needs of First Nations clients, communities, stakeholders, and partners, while maintaining program fidelity. In line with the First Nations health sector, you will advocate and incorporate principles of First Nations Cultural Safety throughout the program and oversee the effective implementation, and ongoing operations and adherence to the license requirements on behalf of the license holder.

About You

To be successful, you will require:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Nursing or Midwifery with experience in maternal and child health.
  • AHPRA Registration as a registered nurse or midwife with significant experience in a nursing role.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Cultural Safety in First Nations health care.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in maternal and child health, with an emphasis on working with First Nations communities.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in supervising clinical and/or professional staff.
  • Strong knowledge of maternal and child health sector in Australia, particularly in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and Community Health.
  • Strong knowledge of the role and value of an Aboriginal health workforce, including an understanding of the Aboriginal health worker role.
  • Ability to develop innovative, evidence-based approaches tailored to First Nations communities.
  • Appreciation of working with a licensed program and working towards ensuring program fidelity
  • Recognized as a respected leader within the professional community and demonstrates a strength-based approach in delivering care.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships across diverse groups.

Remuneration 

Appointment to this role will be at Professional level 10. The base salary will be in the range of $126,376 – $140,256 pa per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $147,859- $164,099 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
