About the opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for a Research Assistant to contribute to important research focusing on improving infectious diseases and immunisation programs across the Asia-Pacific region and designing methods to improve disease surveillance, emergency responses and immunisation programs in these regions. The role will be embedded in the Infectious Diseases, Immunisation and Emergencies Group working with Associate Professor Meru Sheel and her team.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- support the design of research work being undertaken in the work area
- conduct data analysis, prepare reporting and presentations and carry out literature searches for the work area
- undertake specific research activity as part of the broader Research agenda
- provide research administrative support for the work area
- coordinate the development and submission of research publications for the work area
- ensure that the appropriate ethics applications are lodged in collaboration with the Chief Investigator
- undertake domestic and international travel and work flexibly
- undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities
About you
- experience, background, or tertiary qualification in healthcare – Masters and experience in global health desirable
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
- have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution
- demonstrate good problem-solving skills and exercise sound judgement to prioritise workload during busy periods
- have a strong understanding of relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation, including Safe Laboratory Practices, as applicable to the work environment
- strong administrative skills and computer literacy with End Note, SPSS, image analysis, and the Microsoft Suite
- ability to travel and work flexibly
