Description
The College of Medical Science, School of PA Medicine invites applications for a full-time (12 month) assistant/associate professor, clinical track position. This position will work directly with the DMSc leadership team for the innovative and visionary masters and doctorate education for PAs wishing to advance their academic credentials with emphasis in leadership and advanced clinical medicine. The candidate selected for this position will engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities consistent with the requirements of the School of PA Medicine and the College of Medical Science, collaborate with local community agencies and healthcare providers, and actively pursue involvement in professional organizations at the regional, state, national, and international levels.
This is a residential position requiring the successful candidate to work on-campus.

Qualifications
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists the DMSc Program Director in the organization, administration, continuous and periodic review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the DMSc and PA Medicine programs
- Assists in the preparation of administrative reports as requested and assigned by the Program Director
- Assists in development, review, and revision of both the school mission statement and the program mission statement
- Course Lead and/or Concentration Lead in the Doctor of Medical Science degree program
- Course Instruction in the following concentrations:
- Advanced Professional Practice
- Medical Education
- Administrative Medicine
- Evidence Based Medicine and Research courses
- Strong contributor to the growth of the College of Medical Science in regards to curricular and program development
- Assists in the coordination and scheduling of all courses and classes
- Reviews the Student Handbook annually
- Schedules and assists with student remediation as needed
- Assists in the interview and selection of faculty members
- Participation in PA Medicine student applicant interviews and selection
- Provides for the continuous review and update of all course materials and learning objectives
- Provides security for all course and examination materials
- Assists with the maintenance and coordination of the course schedule with the staff team
- Provides assistance with the ongoing assessment and review of the curriculum each semester
- Reviews instruments for student and faculty course evaluations
- Assists in other duties as assigned by the Program Director
- Attends all scheduled staff and faculty meetings
- Assists with coordination and assessment of the function of all adjunct faculty
- Teaches online Doctor of Medical Science courses with which he/she has demonstrated competence and/or experience
- Mentoring and advising responsibility within the master’s and doctoral research projects
- Member of DMSc program committees as assigned
- Co instruction of PA Medicine courses as assigned by DMSc Program Director in conjunction with PA Medicine Program Director
- Medical Practice course series
- Critical Thinking in Medicine course series
- Introduction to the Profession
- Physical Diagnosis course series
- Community Clinic course series instructor at the Free Clinic of Central Virginia
- Advanced Clinical Procedures course
Essential Functions - Students
- Provides and facilitates advising/counseling for students
- Reviews academic performance with students as needed
- Provides remediation for students with substandard performance as needed and appropriate
- Advises the Program Director of any problems related to student behavior, academic performance, or professionalism
- Upholds values and mission of the University of Lynchburg
Qualifications – Experience
- NCCPA certified PA
- Virginia PA license (or eligible) in Virginia
- Minimum of a doctoral degree in a health related field.
Preferred Qualifications/Education:
- Greater than 3-5 years of clinical experience
- Experience teaching in a PA program or Medical School required
- Experience with developing, managing, and/or teaching with online curriculum
- Experience in communities with multicultural and multilingual students and healthcare providers
- Teaching, scholarship, and service interests in diverse communities
- Strong commitment to underserved populations and improving healthcare access
