About the role - About the role
Primarily based on our Hillcrest Campus you will be responsible for the coordination and co-development of support services aimed at improving academic achievement and retention rates for students with disabilities. You will work collaboratively across the wider University to positively contribute to students’ personal development, well-being and support their overall engagement with study to help achieve academic success.
Using your highly developed interpersonal and communication skills you will assess, liaise, advise and advocate for our students with disabilities while they engage in their studies. You will ensure our students’ accessibility to an inclusive learning environment and provide support where needed to enhance their academic success.
This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week. Salary will be in the range of $66,698 to $79,256 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.

Who are you? - Who are you?
In addition to your experience working with people with disabilities and/or mental health concerns with a focus on crisis intervention, while having an excellent understanding of their needs and how to provide support while also being sensitive to their cultural needs.
You will be highly organised, a skilled communicator and ability to be calm in challenging situations. A tertiary qualification along with demonstrated work experience in the management of a health and disability service is essential and experience working in a tertiary education setting would be preferred.
You will be able to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive team culture. You will be able to demonstrate excellent administrative and computing skills in addition to experience in analytical and report writing. You will also need a valid clean driver’s licence.

The Student Services Division provides a comprehensive range of relevant student services which support teaching, learning and research and enrich the Waikato student experience. The work of the Division comprises the following student services: administration processes from enrolment through to graduation, enquiry management, pastoral care, international student services, health, accommodation, counselling, disabilities support, career development services, high performance student management, maintenance of student data and academic records, credit transfer, Tauranga campus administration, student surveys and student complaints and appeals.
