The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications for a 1.0 FTE position in the School Psychology (SP) program at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor and Psychoeducational Services Clinic Director to begin Fall 2024. This 12-month faculty position is a three-year renewable contract, evaluated on an annual basis, followed by multi-year appointments, based on performance, program needs, and budgetary resources.

A strong candidate will model educational and social equity through meaningful teaching, service, and scholarship activities commensurate with the clinical faculty line.

Position Summary

The faculty in this position will teach and support students across our EdS and PhD programs, which provide comprehensive preparation in the area of school psychology. The EdS and the PhD Program are accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). The PhD program is additionally accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

We expect candidates to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of developmental, psychological, and learning theories, general and special education, and legal, ethical, and professional standards of practice. Professional competency in assessment, prevention, intervention, and consultation with family, school and community professionals is also anticipated. The position of Clinic Director will include a reduced teaching load in recognition of the time and responsibilities associated with this role and flexibility in scheduling to allow for consultation or private practice opportunities.

Essential Functions

Administration: Oversee psychoeducational services as Clinic Director of the SP Educational Services Clinic

  • Provide both live supervision and debrief and case conceptualize with individual or pairs of EdS and PhD School Psychology students providing assessment services.
  • Coordinate the Clinic use and management with other college personnel (e.g., CP Counseling Services Clinic Director, SP Director of Clinical Training, Graduate Teaching Assistants). 
  • Market the Clinic to clients and the professional community (e.g., developing and maintaining school and community agency partnerships).
  • Establish and ensure compliance with Clinic protocols, including overseeing Clinic staffing and training, managing electronic medical record and billing systems, and managing materials in the test library.
  • Manage the Clinic budget with the Department Chair.

Teaching: Supervise the SP School Psychology clinic sequence, and teach courses as assigned, including SP practica rotations of students in the clinic setting.

Service: Provide Program, Department, and College Service (e.g., support for program admissions and marketing, active participation in program/department/college meetings, updating program curriculum, supporting accreditation efforts, and serving on program/department/college committees).

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in School Psychology or a related field by the start of the appointment.
  • Experience (e.g., practica, internship, employment) working in or with clinical settings and P-12 schools with exceptional populations.
  • Professional Psychologist licensure or licensure-eligible 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with a variety of assessment measures (cognitive, academic, social-emotional, executive functioning, early childhood, autism, gifted/talented, language processing, etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 0-21 student population (e.g., development, psychopathology).
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility (DEIJA) in assessment, diagnoses, and educational services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Psychologist licensure in Colorado by the start of the appointment. 
  • Experience managing an educational clinic.
  • Established record of supervising in a clinical setting.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general and special education.
  • Has or is eligible for NCSP license.

Work Schedule

While the University’s administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. Salary Grade Number:

The salary grade for the position is UC.


Salary Range:

Salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. The salary range for this 12-month 1.0 FTE position is $75,000 - $92,500.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
