Why your role matters:
The role of the Accounts Receivable Officer provides day-to-day Accounts Receivable services such as the collection of cash, management of debtors and the implementation of efficient Accounts Receivable processes to ensure the efficient and effective completion of Accounts Receivable operational functions in accordance with policy.
The role of the Accounts Receivable Officer reports to the Accounts Receivable Team Lead and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities:
- Student debt collections, responding to student queries and other ad hoc student related processes.
- Complete day to day and complex Accounts Receivable tasks including data entry, debt management and collection, cash receipting and bank reconciliation, ensuring compliance with relevant policy, procedure and best practice.
- Process credit notes and revenue receipting by entering data into Xetta and the ledger to ensure that changes in Government Department names are properly addressed and noted.
- Provide prompt and professional advice and service to University customers to ensure that queries are resolved in a timely manner and that stakeholders can successfully complete accounts receivable procedures.
- Liaise and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders, to provide technical assistance and assist with queries.
- Meet customer and Finance needs by undertaking any other duties that are required commensurate with the role and level.
Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and progressing towards a CA or CPA Qualification is desirable.
- Prior work experience and demonstrated success in the Accounts Receivable function within a large and complex corporate environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of financial controls, accounting processes and experience in applying policy and guidelines.
- Experience in managing customer expectations and appropriately responding to customer needs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills to inform, persuade and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a high-volume environment, to meet organisational expectations and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines, adopting a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Working knowledge of computer applications and experience in enterprise financial systems (e.g. PeopleSoft).
- Attention to detail and ability to deliver results in line with required deadlines and quality parameters.
