The Senior Research Integrity Officer role is located within the Research Services Office of Research Ethics, Compliance and Integrity (ORECI). Working under broad direction, this position plays a key role in supporting a culture of responsible research practice at the University by providing specialist advice in relation to research integrity, identifying, supporting and developing initiatives to promote the responsible conduct of research, and overseeing and supporting the process for the management of research-related complaints and allegations of research misconduct.
This position involves interpretation of relevant legislation, codes, and associated guidelines, development and refinement of policies and procedures relating to research integrity, development and delivery of research integrity training and support materials, high-level support and engagement with the University’s network of Research Integrity Advisors (RIAs), undertaking initial evaluations and preliminary assessments of matters received and providing executive administrative support in research integrity investigations and like processes, including preparation of meeting papers and complex documentation, and monitoring of the University’s obligations under the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
To be successful you will need:
- Knowledge of research issues in the Australian higher education environment and awareness of codes and standards relating to responsible research conduct.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of procedural fairness.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret regulatory and professional principles, resources and guidelines, provide strategic advice and develop and implement new policies and procedures and effectively implement strategies.
- Demonstrated organisational and project management skills including the ability to exercise good judgement and use initiative to troubleshoot and proactively address issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise and establish productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and to deal with inquiries.
- Substantial experience providing high-level administrative support, including servicing committees, with demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow and document due process.
- Demonstrated reliability in dealing with complex, highly confidential and/or sensitive matters and use of appropriate judgement and discretion.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of procedures for conducting investigations of complaints and alleged breaches and/or experience working in a legal compliance or para-legal environment.
Qualification/s:
- A degree with subsequent relevant experience, or extensive experience and specialist expertise.
