Job Summary: The Director of Graduate Admissions and Academic Progress directs, manages, and supports the graduate student admissions, enrollment, and records processes. The director is responsible for authenticating the validity of transcripts and accredited institutions and coordinating graduate admissions with the graduate enrollment counselors for each university school that offers graduate programs, ensuring that all admission criteria are met. The director supports the director of records by collaborating with program coordinators and graduate advisors to facilitate graduate students’ progression and degree completion. The director exercises discretion and judgment in working with sensitive student and staff matters and has the authority to make independent decisions for select admittance categories. The director ensures that accurate and timely information is provided to prospective students by providing oversight to the publication of the Graduate and Professional Studies calendars and catalogs.
- Duties:Plans, manages, and implements the graduate student admission process providing a high level of personalized service to inquiries and applicants.
- Coordinates graduate catalog changes with schools and maintains the graduate catalog.
- Organizes and implements records functions related to graduate students (reactivations, transient forms, graduating students, catalog year changes, grade changes, and graduate course schedule).
- Manages the Colleague implementation for areas related to Graduate and Professional Studies.
- Interfaces with the Records and Advisement Office, Enrollment Services, Student Finance, University Health Center, and Information Technology and exercises discretion and good judgment regarding student enrollment issues.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for applicants and current graduate student inquiries regarding admissions and graduate student records.
- Apprises prospective students regarding admission policies and procedures.
- Acts as transcript evaluation officer for international student records, including evaluation and verification; must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment regarding international student admission requirements.
- Consults with the international admissions liaison for status and issuance of I-20s.
- Collaborates with graduate enrollment counselors in each school including graduate admission committees as requested.
- Coordinates and chairs regular meetings of the graduate enrollment counselors.
- Serves as the Recording Secretary for Graduate Curriculum Committee meetings.
- Assists with open house events, campus visits, graduate special events, local education and career fairs, and some travel for recruiting as needed.
- Serves on university committees that relate to the operation of the graduate studies programs.
- Discretion and judgment in the execution of duties; and duties as assigned by the Graduate Dean.
Special Requirements: An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, an SDA church member in good and regular standing, and a desire to serve in a cooperative, spiritually redemptive, and soul-winning atmosphere.
Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited institution required and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience; the ability to interact in a professional and friendly manner with students, staff, faculty, deans and individuals in all levels of the university; the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; computer in preferably Microsoft Office.

Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, and telephone. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
