Job Description:
SUNY at Fredonia's Department of Computer and Information Sciences is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our faculty as a full-time lecturer starting in Fall 2024. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality education in various areas of computer science and related fields. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:
- Develop and deliver courses in Software Design and Engineering, Programming Languages (Python, C/C++, Java, C#), Modern Web Programming (Frontend and Backend), and Database Design and Implementation;
- Contribute to the department's commitment to excellence in teaching through innovative instructional methods, course materials development, and assessment strategies;
- Engage actively in advising and mentoring students, guiding academic and career pathways;
- Participate in departmental committees and contribute to the overall functioning of the department through service activities;
- Contribute to curriculum development and refinement;
- Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively, in a collaborative academic environment.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field;
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level;
- Expertise in the aforementioned subject areas with a strong commitment to staying updated on industry trends and technological advancements
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
- Experience with instructional technology
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field
- Experience with robotics, microcontrollers, microprocessors, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and general electronics/electro mechanics is desirable;
- Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, term appointed, UUP represented position beginning Fall 2024 at a salary of $48,396 - $53,396, commensurate with experience.
