The Yale LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative, part of the Yale School of Public Health, is seeking a postdoctoral associate to 1) deliver and supervise the delivery of LGBTQ-affirmative cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) from our community-based clinical research lab in NYC and (2) become involved in LGBTQ mental health research, including supporting clinical trials operations, analyzing data, and supporting and leading empirical manuscripts regarding LGBTQ mental health, as interests and background permit.

The Yale LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative is currently conducting several NIH-funded studies of LGBTQ-affirmative treatments and mechanisms, as well as community implementation research.  The postdoctoral associate would join a dynamic team of faculty, research scientists, and students committed to advancing LGBTQ mental health through research (https://medicine.yale.edu/lgbtqmentalhealth/).

The primary duties for this position involve: (a) delivering short-term LGBTQ-affirmative CBT to LGBTQ individuals living in New York State, remotely from our research offices in Midtown Manhattan, upon receiving training in this therapy from our team, (b) providing supervision to externs and student therapists who are delivering LGBTQ-affirmative CBT, (c) conduct trainings in LGBTQ-affirmative CBT with staff and community partners, (d) overseeing the fidelity of LGBTQ-affirmative CBT delivered in the context of clinical trials, (e) implementing clinical and research protocols, and (f) participating in the research process, including research coordination, data analysis and manuscript preparation.

The position will provide postdoctoral clinical hours and supervision necessary for licensure in New York and other states.

Our office is located in Midtown Manhattan, easily accessible by public transportation.  

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology or related fields. Ideal candidates will possess theoretical and practical knowledge of CBT, have experience working with the LGBTQ community, and have experience treating diverse mental health and substance use problems.
