The final scope of the programme is to develop a molecular therapy for pain in arthritis. The programme is based at the William Harvey Research Institute and at the Blizard Institute.

About you

The candidate will have a PhD in the musculoskeletal field and expertise in the area of arthritis (including inflammatory arthritis and osteoarthritis, pain physiology or a related area, with extensive experience of in vivo work in rodents. Experience with pain behaviour assays and/or osteoarthritis models are desirable. The candidate will be strongly supported to build research fellowship applications and continue to foster the collaboration with the European partners. The candidate should have a good track record of publishing in the field, interpersonal and communication skills, and should be an enthusiastic team player.

About the research group and Centre

The Regenerative Medicine group is led by Professor Francesco Dell’Accio, and this project is being led jointly with Professors Moqrich (Marseille, France) and Eijkelkamp (Utrecht, the Netherlands). Research within the Regenerative Medicine group is focused on the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis and the molecular mechanisms of regeneration of joint tissues including cartilage and bone, with the ultimate goal to develop molecular therapeutics to achieve joint tissue regeneration. The Neurophysiology group led by Dr Sikandar focusses on molecular mechanisms of pain. Within the group at large, there is a wealth of expertise in animal models, molecular and cell biology. Our group thrives on a very strong and welcoming team ethos that fosters synergies and mutual support between the individual members.
