Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is recruiting a fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologist or retina specialist with interest and training in the screening and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). 

Located in the world’s largest medical center, our department’s mission is to provide leadership in research, education, and care for complex ophthalmologic problems. 

Candidates are expected to have a strong interest in clinical care and teaching in an academic setting.  Clinical research is encouraged and supported.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The physician will have the opportunity to develop a busy subspecialty clinic and surgical practice. Clinical duties will also include the supervision of residents and medical students in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Faculty will share call responsibilities including staffing consults with residents at Memorial Hermann Hospital and Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital (LBJ).

Qualifications:

Applicants should have completed training at an accredited medical school and fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology or Medical and/or Surgical Retina. They must be board-certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology and be eligible for a medical license in the state of Texas.

Clinical appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full professor level will be commensurate with experience.
