Directly responsible to the Director of the TRIO Upward Bound Program, teachers will work for six weeks.
Position Summary
The TRIO Upward Bound Program is a federally funded pre-college academic program, designed to motivate, and prepare high school students for college and university work. It's an intensive college preparatory support project designed to provide low-income, first-generation high school students with encouragement and the essential skills to complete high school and earn a postsecondary degree.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in a classroom area and during college visits and cultural experience trips. Travel is required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and, may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in secondary or postsecondary educational setting
Preferred but not Required
- Master's degree
- State of Michigan Secondary Teaching Certification
Proposed Salary
Compensation is $1,352 per class taught.

Job Duties
Essential Function: STUDENT INSTRUCTION AND SUCCESS
- Provide instructions and guidance in content area.
- Prescribe techniques and provide materials based on the participants' needs and curriculum requirements.
- Document each participant's progress toward learning objectives and attendance daily.
- Prepare student evaluations and other related reports as requested.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and Awards Ceremony.
