Teaching Assistant - Criminal Justice
Position Overview
This is a Teaching Assistant (TA) position which will assist faculty members with classes and courses, as well as assist with research and instrument development/assessment. This position may also cover classes or proctor exams.
Hours per Week
20 hours per week.
College/Department
College of Liberal Arts, School of Criminal Justice.
Department Specific Job Functions
The teaching assistant will assist the School of Criminal Justice faculty in a variety of ways pertaining to Criminal Justice class instruction. All duties and services of the graduate teaching assistant are to be carried out under the supervision and direction of faculty or administration.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty in their use of a wide variety of web and software programs in relation to their classes.
- Assist faculty with record keeping and supervise the grading of exams and or paper assignments.
- Help lecture in areas where the graduate student is deemed competent.
- Tutor in classes which are in the graduate student’s discipline.
- Assist group study sessions as needed.
- Other duties/responsibilities as determined by the assistant director and director.
Qualifications/Experience Required
- Must be a current School of Criminal Justice graduate student.
- Must maintain a 3.0 GPA as a graduate student.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Must be able to speak and use the English language proficiently.
- Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and innovative.
- Must be able to take and follow instructions.
- Must handle confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.
