Salary: UOM 8 – $119,742– $129,607 p.a. plus 17% super

About the Role

The Finance Business partner is a highly interactive and visible role that partners with those with significant financial accountability within larger, more complex divisions (e.g. Department head) to support the achievement of strategic and operational goals. Through an embedded business partnering model, the Finance Business Partner supports the business by managing financial performance, ensuring financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively, providing financial insights and decision-making support.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide expert financial guidance, align financial resources with divisional goals, and drive performance improvement through data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure efficient resource allocation, monitor financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and support decision-making with timely and accurate financial analysis.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, contribute to process improvement, and support the Senior Finance Business Partner.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a highly analytical individual with proven experience in financial planning and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and translate complex financial data into actionable insights. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, coupled with a keen eye for detail and a passion for process improvement, are essential for this role. Prior experience in higher education and proficiency in financial planning tools are preferred but not required.

You will also have:

  • Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA); or
  • Graduate or postgraduate qualifications in Finance, Accounting or other relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of tertiary qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of financial planning and associated processes (e.g. budgeting, Forecasting) in complex environments.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
