Teaching Fellow in Child Nursing (Clinical Skills)

Are you a registered children’s nurse interested in teaching clinical skills to nursing students?

We are looking to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced children’s nurse to join our well-established Child Health Nursing team in the Clinical Simulation Facilities to support the clinical development of Child Health Nursing at the University. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive and cutting-edge University in a beautiful location, where you can really make a difference. The role entails small group teaching in the clinical skills facility across all year groups in the pre-registration nursing curriculum. As well as an opportunity to be involved in the delivery of clinical skills for post-graduate students.

Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Nursing and Midwifery programmes in the fields of adult, child and mental health nursing and in midwifery have been designed with our students’ career and the future needs of the workforce in mind. The School works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in their learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be.

An interdisciplinary approach to research covers sustainability, the evolution of services, use of new genetic knowledge and technologies, the ageing population, use of internet and mobile technologies, changes in clinical education, contemporary nursing, and how knowledge is translated into practice and policy.

You must possess current registration as a Children’s Nurse with the NMC, in addition to relevant post registration experience as a nurse, a degree in health or a related subject, relevant postgraduate qualifications and a teaching qualification (or be willing to work to achieve this). You will have proven ability in teaching, mentoring and coaching learners in clinical practice or in the clinical simulation setting. You will be familiar with clinical simulation technology and be prepared to further develop and facilitate the innovative simulation-based learning within the School of Nursing and Midwifery in line with NMC SSSA requirements.

This role will require a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

This is a part-time term-time position working 25.9 hours per week for 40 weeks per year to reflect when the modules are scheduled.

For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.
