Role Summary:

Adelaide University is seeking passionate educators to join its School of Mathematical Sciences. A continuing teaching-focused position in statistics, data science, stochastic modelling, or a related area.

In January 2026, the mathematics teams of the foundation universities joined in a new School of Mathematical Sciences. The joint team is committed to educational quality and pedagogical innovation and is excited to be offering new and innovative coursework programs in 2026. These include a statistics major and a data science major in the Bachelor of Mathematics, a Master of Statistics, and a Master of Data Science delivered in collaboration with the School of Computer Science and Information Technology.

Experience

To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience:

• PhD in mathematical sciences or equivalent qualification, in statistics, data science, stochastic modelling, or a related area
• Demonstrated Ability to teach effectively using evidence-based pedagogy that promotes student engagement
• Record of success in delivering quality teaching and coordinating courses at the university level
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with both students and staff
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to carry out administrative duties, as directed by the Head of School, effectively and efficiently
• Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, and ability to contribute to the diversity of the school community
