Job Description

The appointee will support campus development, building operation, and facilities-related initiatives, with a focus on technical coordination, environmental performance, and operational effectiveness across University campuses.

Major Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, the appointee will be responsible for the technical and operational aspects of campus facilities management, including but not limited to:

• Supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of ESG-related operational initiatives, including energy efficiency measures, waste reduction programmes, and data collection to support sustainability monitoring and institutional reporting
• Supporting the planning, operation, and maintenance of University buildings and facilities, including new campus developments and student hostel projects
• Coordinating with the Facility Management Office on building services operation, maintenance works, and facilities-related improvement initiatives
• Conducting data collection and technical assessments related to carbon emissions, energy efficiency, and sustainability performance
• Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, performance summaries, and institutional reports
• Supporting the implementation of operational improvements related to building performance, safety, operational effectiveness, and cost efficiency
• Supporting procurement and contractor coordination related to facilities operation and maintenance, with due consideration of sustainability criteria, life-cycle cost, and environmentally responsible practices
• Liaising with internal units, consultants, and contractors on facilities management and compliance-related matters, including environmental performance, sustainability requirements, and relevant ESG-related standards
• Performing other duties as assigned in support of campus operations and development initiatives

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

• A bachelor’s degree or above in surveying, facilities management, building services engineering, mechanical or electrical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline
• At least three years of solid experience in facilities management, surveying, building services operation, or technical operations, preferably in large-scale institutions, public organisations, or tertiary education settings
• Professional qualification as a Registered Facility Manager (RFM) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
• Corporate or Professional Membership of the Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management (HKIFM) will be an advantage
• Professional Membership of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (MHKIS) will be an advantage
• Sound knowledge of building services systems, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire services, and plumbing and drainage systems
• Familiarity with ESG-related concepts, sustainability practices, and environmental performance monitoring in facilities and campus operations
• Understanding of relevant Hong Kong ordinances, regulations, and codes of practice related to building services operation, facilities management, and surveying practices
• Experience in contractor coordination, technical documentation, surveying-related works, and operational monitoring
• Strong organisational, analytical, and reporting skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with academic and administrative stakeholders
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese

Appointment and Benefits

The appointment will be made on a contract basis, with remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience.
