Technical Assistant 2
Overview
Working under the direction of the digital pathology Supervisor/Manager the Technical Assistant 2 will follow standard laboratory procedures and policies and support all digital pathology scanning operations.
Principal Responsibilities
- Operates and maintains whole slide imaging systems and software platforms.
- Ensures all slides meet QC standards prior to scanning.
- Loads digital pathology scanners.
- Understands workflows and prioritizes cases as needed.
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot basic technical issues to ensure continuous scanning.
- Escalates ongoing technical issues to Supervisor/Manager.
- Performs quality control assessments and quality assurance of digital pathology images.
- Ability to offload and route scanned slides appropriately.
- Processes re-scans as assigned/necessary.
- Effectively communicates delays and quality issues to Supervisor/Manager.
- Follows all Standard Operating Procedures and complies with GLP and safety requirements.
- Performs any data entry associated with digital pathology systems and manages data sets as needed.
- Maintains equipment and performs regular maintenance checks to ensure equipment is properly functioning.
- Accepts other duties as assigned.

Principal Responsibilities
- Operates computerized microfilm digital conversion systems, scanners, imaging, and camera equipment.
- Reports complex malfunctions. Serves as a source of information to customers.
- Answers questions on equipment and reproductions. Prepares materials for reproduction. Inspects for completeness and technical characteristics.
- Applies selection criteria to determine materials for reproduction.
- Determines types of materials to be used, methods, and costs of services to patrons. Reviews service for accuracy and completeness. Searches and verifies data with incomplete information or source material in databases.
- Creates, maintains and updates records. Indexes documents according to defined criteria and guidelines.
- Maintains accounting records for unit. Assists in the coordination, scheduling and distribution of work. Completes forms and spreadsheets. Records data and compiles into statistical analyses and reports.
- Performs technical functions incidental to film and imaging activities.
Required Education and Experience
Four years of related work experience, two of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and a high school level education; or two years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
