Technical Associate I, Dorkenwald Lab
TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, McGovern Institute for Dorkenwald Lab, to work on computational projects and support neuroscience studies in connectomics. Potential projects include developing computational infrastructure, designing machine learning segmentation and classification pipelines, creating visualization and UI tools, processing, storing, and disseminating large datasets, and optimizing and parallelizing workflows to run on compute clusters. This position is ideal for someone who is looking to gain research experience, enhance their technical skills, or is considering graduate school.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in computer science, neuroscience or related field; two years of experience, which can be lab work from an undergraduate experience and/or post educational experience; relevant experience in computer science, engineering, or related technical field that involves computing, signal processing, or technical standards development; and experience with Linux operating systems, shell scripting (e.g., bash, csh), and software development (preferably with Python).
PREFERRED: Experience with data processing workflows; familiarity or willingness to work with backend technology and database management; experience working with high-performance computing clusters and schedulers; and familiarity with basic machine learning classifiers (random forests, logistic regression, etc.).
