As a Technical Officer, you will provide technical support for teaching, clinical and research activities across laboratory environments within the health and science disciplines. You will prepare and maintain laboratories, coordinate laboratory set up, operate, test and maintain equipment, and prepare reagents and samples to support practical classes and research activities.
You will provide hands-on assistance during teaching sessions and practical laboratory activities, troubleshoot equipment issues, and help ensure laboratories operate safely and efficiently. The role also includes stock control, purchasing activities, maintaining technical records and booking systems, and supporting compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.

Position Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements within laboratory or clinical environments.
- Completion of a relevant degree, diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in a science or technical field.
- Strong technical skills, including the operation, calibration, maintenance and basic troubleshooting of scientific, laboratory and clinical equipment.
- Strong communication and consultation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with academic staff, students and stakeholders to coordinate laboratory activities and support teaching and research outcomes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, processes and technical operations.
- Ability to travel across campuses to support Residential Schools.
- Availability to work across an extended span of hours (6:00am to 10:00pm), Monday to Sunday, during Residential School periods, in accordance with Clause 14.3 of the CQUniversity Enterprise Agreement. Applicable penalty rates apply.
