"Technician A"

Position Summary

The Center for Host-Pathogen Interaction in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Technician A to join our team full-time within the Division of Critical Care Medicine. Our research focuses on how viruses enter host cells during the initial stage of infection and identifies strategies for blocking the viral fusion process. Approaches include virology, cell biology, biochemistry, structural and computational biology. The candidate will be doing research focused on viral entry and membrane fusion mechanisms mediated by respiroviruses and strategies to prevent infection. Candidate will apply techniques including antibody assessment, virus neutralization assays, and molecular biology and virology. Candidate will collaborate on a well-established project and learn from investigators across the country and from several fields.

Responsibilities

• Perform experiments on viral entry and membrane fusion
• Assist with development and testing of viral entry/fusion inhibitors
• Maintain cell culture, reagents, and lab inventories; preparing buffers/media
• Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data; contribute to figures/manuscripts
• Collaborate with team members across disciplines and help onboard new trainees
• Participate in routine lab meetings and research presentations
• Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of college or a completed A.A program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program.
• One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and/ or experience.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
