About This Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Indigenous graduate to be a Technician to join the EAIT Faculty Innovation Group. In this role, you will provide hands-on technical support across design, manufacturing, fabrication, and engineering trade functions, contributing directly to the delivery, maintenance, and operation of research and teaching infrastructure.
Working as part of a collaborative technical services team, you will apply practical engineering and trade skills to assist in the development, assembly, modification, and operation of equipment and experimental setups. You will play a key role in enabling day-to-day research and teaching activities, ensuring responsive and reliable technical support across projects and helping to deliver high-quality educational outcomes for undergraduate and postgraduate students throughout all stages of the research and learning lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinates aspects of a technical activity
- Applies technical skills or services in a workshop and training environment
- Safely operates equipment/technology, including a range manual and digital tools (e.g. hand-tools, laser cutter, drills, saws, etc).
- Assists senior staff with undertaking routine fabrication and training duties
- Under routine direction, assists in setting up complex or unusual equipment for experiments and/or demonstrations
- Assists in the conduct of major or more complex fabrication tasks or programs
- Maintains the cleanliness of areas, equipment and facilities
- Contributes to the safe and efficient operation of workshop equipment, infrastructure, methodologies and protocols
- Applies safe storage, handling and disposal techniques to chemicals, equipment, stores and/or samples/specimens
- Applies technical or engineering knowledge to research establishment and skills training
