Temporary General Maintenance
Plan and perform a variety of maintenance jobs in University buildings; most of the work involves repairs or replacements.
Education and Experience:
A general knowledge of maintenance operations, building systems or trades skills equivalent to 1-2 years practical trades training or previous work experience. At least one year additional practical experience. Must provide own hand tools. A valid drivers license; the ability to drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles.

A general knowledge of maintenance operations, building systems or trades skills equivalent to 1-2 years practical trades training or previous work experience. At least one year additional practical experience. Must provide own hand tools. A valid drivers license; the ability to drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles. Work will be performed in residence and dining centers. May be required to provide own transportation.
Responsibilities:
Repack and replace faucets. Open plugged sinks, toilets and drains. Disassemble clean and replace traps, change belts in electrical equipment. Open stuck windows. Remove small animals (including bats) from inside and around buildings. Exercise judgment to determine when tradesmen should be called, especially in cases involving electricity, steam, gas or oil. Read diagrams to assemble furniture and equipment and occasionally work from blueprints. Re-lamp fluorescent and incandescent lights. Board up broken windows. Assist tradesmen as needed.
