Description
Clemson University's Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management (PRTM) seeks applicants for a nine-month non-tenure-track Lecturer. This position is available starting in August 2025 and is located on the campus of Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. Specifically, we seek a dedicated and experienced instructor to support the COAPRT-accredited core curriculum in PRTM, teach in specialty emphasis areas based on the candidate's area of expertise (Sport and Recreation Management, Tourism and Event Management, and/or Parks, Conservation and Outdoor Recreation), and assume leadership of the professional internship program in PRTM. The candidate must have teaching expertise in core curriculum areas within the department, including programming, management, leadership, marketing, finance, governance and policy, professional development, human resources, risk management, and/or theoretical perspectives of recreation. Additionally, the candidate must possess the ability to teach in one or more of the emphasis areas in the department. Finally, the candidate should have the ability to develop, manage, and evaluate a comprehensive professional internship program. This includes developing and sustaining internal and external partnerships to provide students with meaningful internship placements supporting their career aspirations, working with students to identify internship opportunities, ensuring student placements, and assessing internship learning outcomes. The successful candidate will teach and mentor students across the department and must demonstrate knowledge and interest in the PRTM field. The successful candidate will also be expected to collaborate with faculty across the PRTM department, College of Behavioral, Social, and Health Sciences, and broader university, contribute to the undergraduate and/or graduate curriculum, explore opportunities for program development, advise and mentor undergraduate students, engage in departmental, college, and University service, and carry out other departmental duties as required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in face-to-face, online, and in hybrid format as needed. The position also provides the opportunity for summer teaching. Qualifications
Minimum qualifications: • Earned M.S. in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, Sport Management, or related field • Evidence of the ability to teach at the university level, including online (synchronous and asynchronous) • Evidence of related professional experience in parks, recreation, tourism, and/or sport management
