Temporary, Part-Time Emergency Management Instructor (Unsolicited)
The Department of Earth Sciences is accepting applications for temporary part-time instructors to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Emergency Management in online (synchronous and asynchronous) and in-person formats in the courses listed below.
- Emergency Management Planning (Graduate Level – Synchronous online)
- Disaster Response and Recovery (Graduate Level – Synchronous online)
- Emergency Management Planning (Undergraduate – In-person)
- Disaster Response and Recovery (Undergraduate – Asynchronous online)
Please note: The Earth Sciences department at times needs temporary part-time Instructors to fill in for faculty on sabbaticals or other leaves. The purpose of this posting is to generate a pool of qualified faculty. Applications submitted will be reviewed and qualified candidates for various courses will be contacted for an interview process.
A complete application will include: Cover letter describing qualifications for the position, Current curriculum vitae or professional resume, Copies of registrar-issued transcripts for all degrees conferred and in progress, Two letters of professional reference dated within the last 12 months. Required Qualifications: Master's Degree in Emergency Management or related discipline, Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills, Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and working with diverse student populations, Demonstrate willingness to foster EPPIIC core values among students and colleagues to further enhance the national distinction of Millersville's Emergency Management programs (EPPIIC Values at Millersville University | Millersville University), Experience working with the latest technology and online tools, Successful interview, Successful teaching demonstration, Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications: Specialty certifications in emergency management, Practical experience in emergency management and disaster preparedness, Certifications in FEMA NIMS (ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800), Experience teaching emergency management in an online environment, Experience in teaching/conducting exercises and training events, Strong all-hazards understanding of emergency management and disaster preparedness, Mentoring experience.
