Tenure Track Assistant Professor Computer Networks and Communications
Job Description
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Hartford is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in Computer or Electrical Engineering with a focus on Computer Networks and Communications beginning August 2026. Candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree and excellent potential and dedication to teaching, research, service, and professional activities.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will ordinarily teach three courses per semester in engineering and engineering technology related to computer engineering,which may change based on departmental needs. There may also be opportunities to teach our innovative general education and interdisciplinary courses. An active scholarly research agenda with peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or other professional accomplishments are expected for successful tenure and promotion. Service to the department, college, and university typically includes advising students, contributing to student recruitment and retention, advising student capstone projects, and participating in program accreditation. Qualifications
Required:
An earned doctorate in Computer Engineering or related discipline is required; ABDs will be considered providing the candidate documents a degree completion date.
Preferred:
Experience teaching computer engineering or related engineering disciplines at the undergraduate level. Demonstrated potential to build an independent research program related to computer networks and communications that includes undergraduate students. Demonstrated potential to educate and mentor students from diverse backgrounds. Experience and/or demonstrated interest in course and curriculum development. Experience and/or demonstrated interest student recruitment, retention, and career preparation. Applied and/or professional experience in computer networks and communications with Cisco Certification. Commitment to Inclusive Excellence and Belonging
