"Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Composition and Rhetoric"

The Department of English at the American University of Beirut invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Composition and Rhetoric to begin Fall 2026.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in Writing Studies, Rhetorics, and Language. Areas of preferred emphasis include composition studies, research methods and design, and rhetorical theory. Candidates with expertise or demonstrated ability in sociolinguistics are also encouraged to apply.

The first-year teaching load is 1/1, and 2/2 thereafter.

An active research agenda is expected of the successful candidate. Research startup funds are provided, and additional internal support is available through competitive grant applications.
