The Department of Computer Science at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the broad areas of Computer Architecture and Systems. The specific focus of this position is interdisciplinary, spanning the broad areas of computer architecture, networking, operating systems, distributed systems, database systems, and mobile systems.

Who We Are

The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) is one of Colorado’s flagship public institutions and among the most research-active public universities in the country. The College of Engineering and Applied Science is the second largest school or college on the CU Boulder campus and boasts top-tier rankings for both its graduate and undergraduate engineering programs. The Department of Computer Science is one of the largest departments within the College of Engineering and Applied Science. The department is home to over 50 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 20 instructional faculty, and includes about 2000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students. The Computer Systems Lab consists of over ten faculty members whose expertise lies in building practical computer systems. As members of one of the premier research universities in the country, Computer Science faculty, staff, and students are engaged in cutting-edge research projects that address some of the most important challenges facing society today.

The Department's research and education efforts interact broadly with many interdisciplinary programs and collaborators in Boulder and the Denver Metropolitan area, including the national labs at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) , National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA),National Laboratory of the Rockies (NRL) , and National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) , and CU Boulder research centers and institutes, including the Center for National Security Initiatives , the ATLAS Institute , the BioFrontiers Institute , and the Institute for Cognitive Science . More than 20 faculty members have joint affiliations with one of these labs. The Department also has a long-standing partnership with National Center for Women and IT and has faculty active in increasing the broadening of participation in computer science via their research, teaching, and service. In addition, the Department has extensive ties with the thriving local tech community and inhabits a picturesque location in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
