Tenure Track Faculty in Mathematics Education
The Faculty of Education at The King’s University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track appointment in our 2-year B.Ed. After Degree Program, beginning August 1, 2025. Our Christian identity leads us to see education as a professional vocation shaped by hope. Our Elementary and Secondary Education programs blend theory, reflective practice, engaging teaching, and extended student-teaching practicums to inspire students to teach from the heart and from who they are as people. Students are challenged to develop authentic connections between their faith and teaching practices. The emphasis on active learning prepares students for the realities of collaborating with colleagues in school settings.
We are seeking a new colleague with an academic background in mathematics education. We are committed to encouraging students to engage critically with worldviews that shape education and to develop a conceptual framework for educational thinking and action which expresses their foundational beliefs about the meaning of human life, stewardship, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities: The ideal candidates will bring with them a dedication to excellence in teaching and research with an academic background in mathematics education. They will have successful K-12 classroom teaching experience. Experience teaching in person and online will be an asset.
Responsibilities include: Teaching the equivalent of 6 courses per year, including methodology courses in teaching both elementary and secondary mathematics. Some courses may be offered online in a web-based format. (Supervision of student teaching is included in the teaching load.) Engagement in an on-going scholarly research program. Engagement in on-going service to the Faculty of Education and to the greater University community and external stakeholders. Creating connections and developing relationships with students and the greater K-12 school community.
This is a campus-based position. The successful candidate will work with faculty colleagues in curriculum planning, co-teaching, and research. Supervision of student teachers is required of all education faculty members in this program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a developing ability to articulate the connection between educational practice and the Christian faith. All Education faculty model how followers of Jesus Christ aim to enact the hope of being a transformative influence across a full range of educators’ responsibilities for an equitable and sustainable future. The successful candidate will be required to hold a Ph.D. or Ed.D. Candidates close to Ph.D./Ed.D. completion are encouraged to apply; the appointment will be contingent on completion by an agreed-upon date.
To be considered for appointment, the candidate must wholeheartedly endorse the Mission Statement and the Statement of Faith of the University (see https://www.kingsu.ca/about-us/about-kings/faith-commitment).
The King’s University follows a standardized salary grid. The salary range is $71,000 - $89,000/yr dependent on qualifications and experience.
