Job Description

The Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at Alfred State invites applicants to apply for a full-time, tenure-track position teaching courses in the brand new Applied Psychology programs. Both the Associate's and Bachelor's degrees in Applied Psychology are designed to be academically rigorous for students and the department is looking for a qualified candidate who will help support this endeavor. Some of the courses this hire will be expected to teach include those related to research methods and statistical analysis, counseling, clinical psychology, and health psychology.

In addition to teaching 15 contact hours per semester, responsibilities include meeting with students through regularly scheduled office hours, advising students on academic-related issues, and participating in curriculum, departmental, college, and professional community activities. Superior written and oral communication skills are preferred as well as a commitment to mentoring student research.

Requirements

Successful candidates will have a master's degree in applied psychology or a related field and direct college teaching experience.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in applied psychology and a history of real-world experience in the field.
