Tenure Track Faculty Position in Geriatric Medicine - Senior ranks

The Division of Geriatrics in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Associate or Full Professor positions in the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Candidates must be board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine and certified/board eligible in Geriatric Medicine.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching residents, fellows, and medical students. Candidates will have opportunities for participating in the Perelman School's outstanding educational programs at the UME, GME or post-graduate level.

Clinical responsibilities may include outpatient care in the ambulatory practice and/or inpatient care at Penn Presbyterian Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include submission of grants and writing research papers in the area of geriatrics. The successful candidate must have an established record of independent extramural funding, high-impact publications, and a strong national/international reputation. The candidate will be responsible for building a research program in areas of high relevance for geriatric medicine, including but not limited to health services research, clinical epidemiology, decision sciences, clinical interventions, geriatric syndromes (e.g., depression, delirium, dementia, falls, gait disorders, incontinence, osteoporosis, frailty, sensory loss, sleep disorders) or a focus on the pathology/pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment or care (at the individual, system or societal levels) of a medical or surgical disease in older adults. The division has a particular interest in research addressing neurodegenerative diseases, sleep, population health, surgical care, and oncology. A depth and breadth of scientific approaches are welcomed. The candidate should have a track record of obtaining NIH, NSF and/or not-for-profit funding and, as well, support from industry and philanthropy that is scientifically, educationally and mission appropriate.

Clinical and educational responsibilities will be synergistic with divisional needs and the faculty member's research and its translation into practice. There will be an expectation of the ability of the candidate to provide management and/or leadership. Rank will be commensurate with experience.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
