"Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Medical Imaging"

Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Medical Imaging in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences (https://wcvm.usask.ca/departments/small-animal.php), Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM), University of Saskatchewan.

The successful applicant must have a passion for veterinary medicine and a commitment to coaching veterinary students for success in veterinary practice, specifically in the field of veterinary medical imaging. For 50% of the year, the successful candidate will serve as a member of the clinical medical imaging service of the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) and deliver clinical rotations that ensure that students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program are knowledgeable about the full range of medical imaging modalities used in veterinary practice.

For the remaining time, the selected applicant will deliver undergraduate lectures and laboratories in medical imaging and engage in scholarly activity, including the establishment and maintenance of a research program within their discipline. They will also provide American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR)-approved specialty training and mentorship to interns, residents, and graduate students, deliver graduate-level lectures in diagnostic imaging, and participate in the supervision of trainees during regular and after-hours, as assigned.

Clinical responsibilities include providing medical imaging supports to other services in the VMC, which includes small animal, large animal, exotic pet, zoo animal, and wildlife cases; consulting with veterinarians and veterinary specialists to select the most appropriate diagnostic imaging tests – including radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), PET-CT, and magnetic resonance imaging; and interpreting acquired images on both a scheduled and emergency basis. Supporting the maintenance and growth of the VMC’s referral caseload and strengthening relationships with the broader veterinary community are important aspects of this position.

The WCVM (https://wcvm.usask.ca/) is Western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine and is part of a comprehensive academic health sciences group on the University of Saskatchewan’s main campus. Faculty members have access to exceptional facilities, including the Biomedical Imaging and Therapy Facility at the Canadian Light Source (https://www.lightsource.ca/index.php). Extensive opportunities for collaboration exist both within the WCVM and across the university’s health science programs.

The VMC (https://vmc.usask.ca/) is a state-of-the-art, AVMA- and AAHA-accredited, primary care hospital and referral centre serving Western Canada. Specialty services – including anesthesia; dentistry; dermatology; exotic, wild, and zoo animals; internal medicine; medical imaging; nutrition; oncology; ophthalmology; radiation oncology; and surgery – support teaching in undergraduate and graduate veterinary programs.

Applicants must hold a DVM degree (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan (see https://svma.sk.ca/). Candidates must also be a Diplomate of the ACVR or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging; or have completed an accredited residency program prior to the start date. Completion of an advanced degree in in related field is desirable.

This position is within the scope of the University of Saskatchewan Faculty Association (https://usaskfaculty.ca/). The salary bands for this position for the 2026-2027 academic year are: Assistant Professor - $113,527 to $135,535; Associate Professor - $135,535 to $157,543; and Professor - $157,543 to $183,219; and is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
