Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Religious Studies (East Asian Religions)
The Department of Religious Studies at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in East Asian Religions to begin in August 2026. We seek applications from candidates who will teach courses on the major religious traditions of the region and, preferably, who research these religions in their transnational contexts. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who can offer courses that examine how East Asian religions are connected to the arts, the environment, and/or other global issues, including interreligious dialogue. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to interdisciplinary programs outside the Department, such as Asian Studies, Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies, and Peace and Conflict Studies, or to departments such as Critical Race and Ethnic Studies and Environmental Studies.
This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a research leave prior to tenure review of either a full year at 80% salary or a semester at full salary, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. To enable a smooth transition to Holy Cross, new full-time tenure-track Assistant Professors receive start-up funding to support their research and professional development and have a one-course reduction in their first year of teaching (i.e., 2-2). This position offers full benefits and a starting salary in the range of $101,850 to $103,850.
